Physiological Tremor

چکیده
he contraction of a voluntary muscle is accompanied by tremors of the muscle in the form of minute oscillations. In an electrical recording of the muscle's activity the tremor can be seen as a trace of very fine rhythmic movements superimposed on the record of the contraction itself. The amplitude of the oscillations is about a hundredth or a fiftieth as large as that of the total movement produced by the contraction, and the predominant frequency, in man, is about 10 cycles per second. This rippling of the muscle, known as physiological tremor, was discovered many years ago to be a normal accompaniment of the voluntary muscles' activity. Various explanations were proposed. There were theories that the factor generating the tremor might be the heartbeat or the

Minocycline Mitigation of Tremor Syndrome and Defect of Cognitive and Balance Induced by Harmaline
Introduction: Minocycline has anti-inflammatory, anti-apoptotic, and anti-oxidant effects. Preclinical data suggest that minocycline could be beneficial for treating common neurological disorders, including Parkinson disease and multiple sclerosis. Methods: In this study, the effects of minocycline on harmaline-induced motor and cognitive impairments were studied in male Wistar rats. The rats ...
متن کاملJN-01218-2004.R1 - Aging and Tremor Regularity Effects of Aging on the Regularity of Physiological Tremor
The purpose of this investigation was to determine the effects of healthy aging on the regularity of physiological tremor under rest and postural conditions. Additionally, we examined the contribution of mechanical reflex factors to age related changes in postural physiological tremor. Tremor regularity, tremor-EMG coherence, tremor amplitude, and tremor modal frequency were calculated for four...

متن کاملPhysiological tremor increases when skeletal muscle is shortened: implications for fusimotor control.
KEY POINTS In tonic, isometric, plantarflexion contractions, physiological tremor increases as the ankle joint becomes plantarflexed. Modulation of physiological tremor as a function of muscle stretch differs from that of the stretch reflex amplitude. Amplitude of physiological tremor may be altered as a function of reflex pathway gains. Healthy humans likely increase their γ-static fusimotor d...

متن کاملCross-spectral analysis of physiological tremor and muscle activity. II. Application to synchronized EMG
We investigate the relationship between synchronized muscle activity and tremor time series in (enhanced) physiological tremor by cross-spectral analysis. Special attention is directed to the phase spectrum and its possibilities to clarify the contribution of reflex mechanisms to physiological tremor. The phase spectra are investigated under the assumptions that the EMG synchronization was caus...
